Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Sarah's parents, Deborah and
Thomas H. Williams, along with
her sister, Rachel, will partici-
pate in the service. Grandpar-
ents are Viva and Dr. Carl D.
Williams, and Betty Ellias.
Sarah also is the granddaugh-
ter of Harold Ellias. A party in
Sarah's honor will be held at
Shaarey Zedek.
Sarah is an honor student at
Warner Middle School and at-
tends Hebrew school at Shaarey
Zedek. She plays clarinet in the
school band and enjoys dance
and sports. For her bat mitzvah
project, Sarah packed food for
Yad Ezra.

Shane Mally
Shane Kauffman Mally, a sev-
enth-grade honor student at
Norup Middle School, will be
called to the Torah at Temple
Emanu-El as a bar mitzvah on
Jan. 17.
Participating in the service
will be his parents, Helene and
Michael Mally, and his brother,
Eric Mally. His grandmother,
Roz Kauffman, and his great-
grandmother, Sophie Kingston,
also will join him on the bimah.
Joining in the celebration will be
Nora Mally, his grandmother
from San Diego. Shane also is the
grandson of the late Andy Mally
and the late Seymour "Cy" Kauff-
man, for whom he is a namesake.
Shane is an active participant
in many sports. He enjoys writ-
ing and drawing and is a mem-
ber of the jazz band in which he
plays the trombone.
A party in Shane's honor will
be held at Peking House.

Lisa Lieberman
Lisa Diane Lieberman will be-
come a bat mitzvah on Friday,
Jan. 17, at Temple Israel. Lisa is
the daughter of Lynn and Paul
Lieberman and sister of David,
Beth and Michael. She is also the
grandchild of Milton and Ruth
Miller and the late Diana Miller
and the late Jane and Bernard
Lieberman.
Part of her mitzvah assign-
ment involved donating funds to
the Cancer Society and the
Alzheimer's Society. She also as-
sisted with homeless when they
were housed at Temple Israel.
A student at West Hills Mid-
dle School, Lisa enjoys cooking,
swimming and sailing.
