Mrs. Siegl received a bache- lor of science degree from Co- lumbia University Teachers College, a master's of education from University of Washington and a Ph.D. from Union Insti- tute. She founded the Little School in 1959 in Bellevue, Wash., a day school for age 3 through sixth grade that em- phasized a humanistic ap- proach to individual and inde- pendent development. She had faculty appointments at Anti- och University Seattle, Pacific Oaks College, Seattle Universi- ty, Union Graduate school and the University of Washington. Mrs. Siegl is survived by her husband, Henry; daughter, Mascha Kushner of Seattle; sons, Zev of Seattle, Simon of Washington, D.C.; four grand- children; one great-grandchild; brothers and sisters-in-law, Seymour and Ethel Shapiro, Avery and Bette Shapiro of Huntington Woods, Melvin and Barbara Shapiro of Florida. Mr. Silberstein worked as a volun- teer for 17 years from the Se- nior Service Corps of the Jew- ish Vocational Services. He worked at Sinai Hospital as a volunteer every Tuesday. He was a Holocaust survivor and was shot while escaping. Mr. Silberstein was an upholsterer; he retired early because of loss of vision. Mr. Silberstein is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Natan and Miriam Sela of Is- rael; niece and nephew; Lisa and Philip Richards of Van Nuys, Calif.
