The Fresh Air Society, a
constituent agency of the
Jewish Federation of Metropol-
itan Detroit, will offer seven
week-long Elderhostel programs
from Sunday to Friday. The
beginning dates are June 15,
June 22, July 13, July 20,
Aug. 10, Aug. 17 and Sept. 7 at
Butzel Conference Center in Or-
tonville.
The food service is glatt kosher,
and the double occupancy rooms
have private baths. The facility
overlooks a lake, and the hous-
ing, dining and classrooms are all
located close to each other on the
first floor.
Topics include "Issues in Con-
temporary Israeli Society," "Life
Unworthy of Life: Perspectives
on the Holocaust," "Shakespeare
and the Jewish Question," "Sto-
ries of Difference, Stories of As-

similation," "Bible and Spade:
The Search for Ancient Israelite
Religion."
Elderhostel Inc. is a national
nonprofit organization which
sponsors residential academic
programs around the world for
people aged 55 and over. Those

Hebrew Classes
At B'nai Moshe

Kolel Moshe, Congregation B'nai
Moshe's adult Jewish learning
center, offers Hebrew reading
classes for adults during its win-
ter session that begins the week
of Jan. 12. All classes will meet
for eight sessions at B'nai Moshe
and are open to the public. There
is a charge.
Total Beginner Hebrew Read-
ing, taught by Ahuva Newman,
will meet 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Thursday afternoons, starting
Jan. 16. This class is designed for
adults with little or no back-
ground in Hebrew. The charge is
$28 for members of B'nai Moshe,
$45 for others.
Total Beginner Hebrew Read-
ing will also meet 7:30-9 p.m.
Thursdays, starting Jan. 16. The
fee is $40 for members of B'nai
Moshe, $56 for others.
Two adult Hebrew classes on
a "Beginner Plus" level are for
those with approximately three
semesters' experience in Hebrew
study. Dr. Ed Golenberg will
teach Beginner Plus 9:30-11 a.m.
on Sundays. The fee for the eight-
week series, beginning Jan. 12,

At 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30,
at the Jimmy Prentis Morris
Jewish Community Center, Nor-
man Naimark will present 'The
Recent United States Election
and Its Effect on Israel." Mr.
Naimark, the past president
of the Detroit Zionist Federation,
will discuss the current political
situation in the United States as
well as lead a question-and-an-
swer session. There is a nominal
fee for nonmembers.
At 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at
JPM, Terry Mathews will enter-
tain with a sing-along, with mu-
sic from the 1920s, 1930s and
1940s.
