Youth Events
CHaZaKaH, the Adat Shalom se-
niors, will get together 12:30 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 19, to mark the
group's 7th birthday. The seniors
will enjoy a dairy lunch, followed
by a special candlelighting cere-
mony. Rabbi Efry Spectre will de-
liver a special birthday message.

Israel Trips
For Summer
Applications are being taken for
the Masada-Maccabi Israel sum-
mer programs sponsored by the
Zionist Organization of America.
Eight programs are being offered
for high school and college stu-
dents, ages 12 to 18.
Included is "Taste of Israel" —
22-days' sightseeing program for
teen-agers; Italy/Exodus — 6-
week program highlighted by an
exploratory stay in Rome and a
3-day journey across the Mediter-
ranean; an Adventure/Map pro-
gram for hike and rappel
enthusiasts with a 3-day trek
through the desert; a kibbutz pro-
gram; a program devoted to pho-
tography and video production;
a Mifgashim experience focusing
on spending time with Israeli
teen-agers; and a sports program.

mysterious, frozen, gobbling

Metro Detroit Teen Connec-
tion will hold a Chanukah Par-
ty, 7:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec.
14 at Maple-Drake. Activities in-
clude sports, dancing and games.

hold its annual Regional Con-
vention, Dec. 22-26, at Maple-

HMC Plans
Docent Class
The Holocaust Memorial Center
(HMC) will begin a new docent
training session 10-11:30 a.m.
Tuesday, December 10 at HMC. C_1
The training session will be
five weeks long and is geared
exclusively to volunteers who
are available during daytime
hours.
Participants view videos, read
assigned books and articles and
share the experiences of seasoned
docents. A one-on-one walk-
through with a member of the do-
cent training committee
completes the program.
The training program can be
tailored to meet participants'
needs and schedules. Future do-
cents can complete their training
at their own pace. Once they have
finished the program, they can
choose the day or days on which
they would like to serve.
