JOSEPH THEO ADLER,
101, of Livonia, died Dec. 1.
Born on Nov. 23, 1895, in
Frankfurt am Main, Germany,
he was a veteran of World War
I and a survivor of the Dachau
concentration camp. Mr. Adler
emigrated with his family to
Detroit in March 1939. As a
chronicler of his family's history
and Jewish history, he amassed
a unique and vast collection
documenting every aspect of
Jewish life, achievement and
the Holocaust. He donated the
collection to the Harlan Hatch-
er Special Collections Library of
the University of Michigan just
over one year ago.
Mr. Adler is survived by his
son and daughter-in-law,
Charles and Myra of Oak Park;
daughter and son-in-law, Ruth
and Edward Schnee of South-
field; grandchildren, Anita, Je-
remy and Daniel Schnee, Jan
Adler Jacobs; numerous great-
grandchildren. Mr. Adler was
the beloved husband of the late
Marie Florence; he was also the
loving grandfather of the late
David.

caust Materials at U. of M. Li-

held at Machpelah Cemetery in

HYMAN BENACH, 87, of
West Bloomfield, died Dec. 2.
He is survived by his daugh-
ter, Fay Eisner of Troy; sister-
in-law, Ruth Benach of Oak
Park; loving companion, Mollie
Cohen. Mr. Benach was the
beloved husband of the late Ida
Benach and the late Toby Kut-
nick Benach; loving father of
the late Arthur Benach.

RUTH BLIEFIELD, 79, of
Rochester Hills, died Dec. 1.
Ms. Bliefield was a self-em-
ployed attorney. She was a
member of the Michigan Bar
Association, Detroit Bar Associ-
ation, a Wayne State alumnae
and had a life masters in
bridge.
Ms. Bliefield is survived by
her nieces and nephews, Mari-
on Tauber, Nancy Tauber, Su-
san Tauber of Rochester Hills,
Stuart Hyke, Linda and Brad
Seitz of Worthington, Ohio; sis-
ter-in-law and brother-in-law,
Prudence and Harold Wolpa.

SAM BLONDY, 85, of Sun
City, Calif , died Nov. 26.
He is survived by his wife,
Marion Elizabeth; sons and

(Marion) Ruby.

87, of West Bloomfield, died
Nov. 30.
Ms. Bockoff is survived by
