count store and you'll find some great new artistic tools cer-
tain to entertain your child for a long time: 3-D markers,
scented crayons and gem-tone colors. Fill a small box with a
collection of these, stickers and blank sheets of paper folded
into quarters. Your daughter can begin designing greeting
cards for an upcoming Jewish holiday.
* Use passing sites to help your son learn the Hebrew al-
phabet. (If you don't know Hebrew yourself, this will be a
good way for you to learn, too.) First, either buy or make your
own flash cards showing the letters of the aleph-bet. At the
bottom, mark the sound of the letter: Lamed has the "1"
sound; bet has the "b" sound. Now notice items that start
with the same sound. Hold up the bet card and look for a
barn, a boy, a ball, a billboard, etc.; and for a lamed, note a
light, a license plate, a line.
