You Bug Me
You may find this the most
horrendous meal in the world,
but it will be fun, healthy, and
chances are your children will
actually eat it!
It's called Bug Dinner.
Just look around your
kitchen and you're bound to
find plenty of material for this
scrumptious food. Mean-
while, here are some ideas:
* Create grass out of thin
noodles cooked in green food
coloring
* For dirt, try scrambled
eggs mixed with blue-and-
green food coloring (to pro-
duce brown)
* Cooked spaghetti
strands make wonderful
worms
* Make a yummy spider
by sticking pretzel sticks legs
into peanut butter smeared
between two crackers
* Serve up a tasty ladybug
by halving and removing the
seeds and core from an apple,
then adding dots of raisins,
each stuck on with a drop of
peanut butter
* Design an anthill
out of sunflower
seeds, held together
with a spoonful of
honey
* Imagine what a
delicious grasshopper
you can create out of
a piece of celery. First,
remove leafy top and
envision your celery-
grasshopper in thirds.
Fashion front and
back legs by slicing
thin strips into both
sides of top and bot-
tom thirds of celery,
leaving middle (the grasshop-
per's stomach area) whole.
Gently pull the legs away from
the body, being careful not to
tear off. Next, remove the
thick middle portion beside
back legs, cutting to the center.
Finally, create eyes by inserting
toothpicks, topped by pimento-
filled olives, into the "head" be-
side front legs.

home, of course, they'll face a
whole new collection of chal-

soothe a colicky child but how
to deal with a lack of self-
esteem and financial indepen-
dence.

Detroit? Right there, in your
own home?
Well, sort of.
If you enjoy grape juice for
Kiddush on Shabbat, or for
any day, imagine how fun it
will be to make your own.
You will need:
* a one-quart jar
* 2 cups washed and
stemmed Concord grapes
* 1 cup sugar
* boiling water
First, sterilize the jar in boil-
ing water. Next, add the
grapes and sugar to the jar
while it is still hot Fill to the
top with clean, boiling water.
Seal immediately, then let sit
for three or four weeks. Before
drinking your juice, which
will have a sweet, delicate fla-
vor, be sure to strain through a
piece of cheesecloth.
