BBYO Plans
Heritage Night

Hillel of Metro Detroit's Decem-
ber Coffee House Night will be
9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at Lon-
estar Coffee Co., Birmingham.
The event is open to all students
and young adults in the Detroit
area and there is no charge.

Michigan Region B'nai B'rith
Youth Organization will hold the
first Jewish Heritage Night of the
1996-97 program year 7-8:30 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Maple-
Drake JCC.
This event, which is open to
all BBYO members, will
place "The Issues on Trial" by
presenting a mock trial format
on the topics of abortion and
assisted suicide. Judge Marla
Parker, a former BBG regional
president, and Rabbi Daniel
Nevins of Adat Shalom Syna-
gogue will be guest experts
for the evening. Refreshments
will be served and admission is
free.

The Young Adult division will
take its annual pre-Thanksgiv-
ing party to U.S. Blades and
Laser World, 5700 Drake, West
Bloomfield, 7:30 p.m. Wednes-
day, Nov. 27.
YAD will add lasertag, in-line
skating and other sports activi-
ties to its party agenda. Dancing
to the music of a D.J., cash bar
and munchies are included in the
cost of $12 in advance, $15 at the
door. Jewish young adults post-
college age to 35 are invited.

Singles Group
Holds Dance

Temple Israel's Singles Exten-
sion Group will host Jewish sin-
gles 50 and over at the Autumn
Swing 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24,
at Temple Israel. Music by Wal-
ly Duda; light refreshments will
be served.
Cost is $9 members and $12

JPM Hosts
Varied Events

Chanukah bingo will be played
12:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at
the Jimmy Prentis Morris JCC.
A bus will leave the Jimmy
Prentis Morris building 9:30 a.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 26 for an exhibit
at the Maple-Drake building.
"Quilt As Art" features 15 na-
tionally known Jewish fabric
artists.
The Senior Forum meets 10:30
a.m. every Thursday. David
Weiner facilitates. There is no
charge.
Weekly Erev Shabbat Services
are 12:45 p.m. on Fridays. Can-
tor Max Shimansky, Cantor
David Gutman and Ida Kogan
will alternate as facilitators.
The Wednesday Afternoon So-
cial is at 1 p.m. Broadway show
tunes and Yiddish Melodies are
presented by a troupe of local en-
tertainers. Refreshments are
served. These is a 500 charge for
this event.

First-Graders
Are Honored

First-graders from the Adat
Shalom Religious School and
from Hillel Day School will
be honored at a Consecration
Service on Shabbat morning,
Nov. 23. The children will be
called to the bimah and will each
receive a special gift from the
synagogue. The children will re-
pond with a program of songs. A
kiddush in their honor will fol-
low.
