Judaism is absent from the
home, it shows that Judaism is
not a priority.
The extra "I" in the sentence
sends the same message to us as
it did to Jacob — any moment in
time, any spot on earth may be
the gates of heaven, the oppor-
tunity to make an impact. We do
not know which moments will
have that effect. Therefore, we
must learn to identify and take
advantage of every opportunity
we have to be a part of our Jew-
ish history and to make an im-
pact on the Jewish future. ❑

Chanukah
Hebrew Class

Congregation B'nai Moshe will
offer a special Chanukah Hebrew
workshop for adults on the first
night of the holiday, 7:30 - 9 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 5, taught by Ahu-
va Newman.
The program will focus on
building a basic Chanukah vo-
cabulary for adults with no pre-
vious Hebrew language
experience. Adults with some He-
brew background are also wel-
come to attend and use the
session as a refresher. The work-
shop will include a translation of
lyrics to familiar Chanukah
songs.
The cost is $7 per person ($5
for members of B'nai Moshe).
Students who are currently en-
rolled in other B'nai Moshe Adult
Hebrew classes may attend at no
additional charge.

`Cool In Shul'
Workshops Set

The Religious School Parents of
Congregation Beth Shalom will
present three more "Be Cool in
Shul" workshops. The sessions
will be 10:45 a.m. Sunday morn-
ings, November 24, Dec. 7 and
14.
Dr. Joe Lewis, director of mar-
keting services for the Royal
Maccabees Life Insurance Com-
pany in Southfield, will lead the
workshops.
The workshops are free and
open to the public.

Publicity Deadlines

The normal deadline for local news and
publicity items is noon Thursday, eight
days prior to issue date. The deadline for
birth announcements is 10 a.m. Monday,
four days prior to issue date; out-of-town
obituaries, 10 a.m. Tuesday, three days
prior to issue date.
