For Adults:

Tuesday, December 3 -- 7:00 pm--Holidaze? or
Holidays?
Join Dr. Judy McKee, Children's Literature
specialist, for a presentation on why books & activ-
ity kits are a better choice than a highly marketed
toy or another jazzy outfit. She will discuss what is
meant by high-quality books & life-long learning
sets; the Best of the Best for the holidays: high-
quality books for Hanukah, Christmas, Kwanza,
and Martin Luther King's Bithday; books for special
needs (divorce, death, learning disabilities); and the
best books for babies, toddlers, preschoolers,
school-age children.

NO VEMBER

include Understanding the
Practice and Meaning of Ha-
lachah and Sichot (Discus-
sions) of the yeshiva's chief
rabbis on fundamental princi-
ples of Judaism, and issues of
modern Jewish society.
Each of the courses offers
multiple opportunities to inter-
act with faculty and other stu-
dents from around the world.
Finally, this site offers links
to a number of other web sites
which offer Torah-related ma-
terials.
I found the 613 Jewish
Torah Audio site to be nothing
short of astounding. Instead
of simply offering written ma-
terials, the large variety of
courses available through this
free service are all presented
via lectures you can actually
hear.
To listen in, you probably
will have to download and in-
stall on your hard drive the
Real Audio Player software.
Once you arrive at the 613
Jewish Torah Audio home
page, however, you will find
an extremely easy, clear set of
directions to help you to
download and install the nec-
essary software.
The variety of audio materi-
al available at 613, and in
other places you may surf,
makes the effort to acquire
the relevant software well
worth it.
Once Real Audio Player is
in place, you can listen to
lectures on the Torah portion
of the week, classes in basic
Judaism, songs and talks
about each of the major holi-
days and Shabbat, Chasidic
stories, and lectures on topics
such as vegetarianism in Ha-
lachah. ❑
