Rabbi Speaks
At Luncheon

Rabbi Debra Orenstein will be
the guest speaker noon, Wednes-
day, Nov. 20, for the second in a
series of "Brown Bag It" lun-
cheons hosted by the Temple
Beth El Sisterhood. A fellow of
the Wilstein Institute of Jewish
Policy Studies and instructor at
the University of Judaism in Los
Angeles, Rabbi Ornestein will
speak on "Women in Judaism:
Where We Have Been and
Where We Are Going."
Cost of the lunch is $7 for sis-
terhood members and $9 for
guests. Reservations may be

Women's Issues

Single Jewish mothers are in-
vited to "Phases of the Moon,
Phases of Our Lives: Connecting
Biblical and Contemporary Jew-
ish Women's Issues," an evening
of dinner, networking and dis-
cussion with Rabbi Debra Oren-
stein.
The program is scheduled for
6-9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13, at
the Eugene and Marcia Apple-
baum Jewish Parenting Center,
4200 Walnut Lake Road, West
Bloomfield.
The event is sponsored by
Jewish Experiences for Families'
Institute for Single Jewish Moth-
ers, the Eugene and Marcia Ap-
plebaum Jewish Parenting
Center and the Michigan Branch
of the Women's League of Con-
servative Judaism. There is a fee
of $10 for adults for the dairy din-
