Book Fair Offers
Magic, Speakers
A live-animal magic show will
be held for children at the JCC's
Jewish Book Fair 1 p.m. on
Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Washt-
enaw County Jewish Commu-
nity Center. Gift books and
Chanukah items are available
for all ages. The Jewish Book
Fair is free and open to the pub-
lic. It will run 7:30-10:30 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 23; and 9 a.m.-
4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24.
Lectures Set
For Ann Arbor
Susan Dworkin will read from
her new book, The Book of Can-
dy, 12:45 p.m. on Thursday,
Nov. 14 at the Jewish Commu-
nity Center of Washtenaw

Party Auction
Benefit Planned
Come Out and Party Auction'96
to benefit the children of the
Jewish Community Center of
Wash-tenaw County and spon-
sored by the Jewish Communi-
ty Center of Washtenaw County
- will be held, beginning 8 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Polo
Fields Golf & Country Club, lo-
cated on Zeeb Rd. 1 mile south
of 1-94 in Ann Arbor.
Proceeds will benefit the cen-
ter's pre-school, helping to re-
furbish the playground and add
new equipment. For informa-

Writing Contest
On Legacies
The Jewish Community Center
of Washtenaw County Senior
Writing Group will offer a Lega-
cies Writing contest.
Entry into the contest is free.
The first place winner will be el-
igible for prizes from the Na-
tional Legacies Contest. Entry
requirements include: (1) Writ-
ers must be 60 years of age or
older; (2) Entries must be on 8
1/2" x 11" paper, three pages or
less, single or double spaced,
typed or legibly handwritten; (3)
Writers must use one of the fol-
lowing topics for their story:
• Tell a story of when some-
thing happened that changed
the direction of your life.
• Describe the greatest chal-
lenge you've ever faced in your
life.
• Tell a story that you would
want your great-grandchildren
to know.
• Describe a spiritual experi-
ence that had a strong influence
on your life.
• What is the funniest or the
best thing that ever happened
to you?
(4) Writers can enter one sto-
ry in any topic, but may enter
as many topics as they wish; (5)
Writers must put their name,
address, phone number and
date of birth on each story.
Entry deadline is Dec. 1. All
entries are mailed to the Jew-

Maimonides
Society Meets
Partnership 2000 - the physi-
cian's Role will be the topic for
the Maimonides Society meet-
ing 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5,
at the home of Amnon and Prue
Rosenthal in Ann Arbor.
Members of the Maimonides
Society make an annual pledge
of at least $1,000 to the Feder-

JPM Offers
Varied Events
The Jimmy Prentis Morris Jew-
ish Community Center will pre-
sent bingo 12:30 p.m. on
Monday, Oct. 28. There is a fee.
The Boaz Siegel Cultural
Fund will present Alice Marie
Bentley in "Phantom, Fiddler
and Fair Lady," 1 p.m. Thurs-
day, Oct. 31, at JPM. Ms. Bent-
ley will perform a selection of
Broadway tunes as well as a few
of her own compositions. This
program is free to JCC members
and there is a $1 charge for non-
members.
The Senior Forum meets
10:30 a.m. every Thursday at
JPM. David Weiner facilitates
this current eventsgroup for se-
niors dealing with topics on lo-
cal, national and international
issues. On Thursday, Oct. 31,
Robert J. Essick, attorney at
law, will speak. There is no
charge.
