momentous occasion and I salute your lifelong dedication to promoting peace and understanding
among people of all races and religions.

In your 32 years as ADL's Michigan Director, you served as a front-runner in the fight for social
equality and justice for all people in Michigan. The many honors and awards that have been
bestowed upon you during your career are testament to your unwavering mission to be a
"Champion of Liberty."

The ADL's Champion of Liberty Award is reserved for "that person, persons, or institution
whose practice significantly furthers liberty, and our democratic commitments, and reflects the
goals of the ADL." You not only meet, but greatly exceed these requirements.

Once again, I salute you for your many accomplishments, and I wish you the. best in the years
to come. You have been a true leader and an inspiration to many people, myself included.
