Machon Plans
Talk, Israel Trip

Machon L'Torah and the Jewish
Resource Center in Ann Arbor
will hold a program at the Uni-
versity of Michigan in the Michi-
gan Union Kuenzel Room.
Rabbi Avraham Jacobovitz, di-
rector of Machon L'Torah, will
lead a discussion on "Interdating,
Intermarriage and Racism." The
program will be held 7:30 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 21. Refreshments
will be served.

Rabbi Naftali Kirzner, assis-
tant director of Machon's Jewish
Resource Center, announced an
Israel winter learning tour for
students and young profession-
als.
The tour, led by Rabbi Ja-
cobovitz, will include Jerusalem,
Masada, the Galilee, Golan
Heights, Tiberias, Tel Aviv, the
Negev and more. In addition to
sightseeing, there will be lectures
and discussions of philosophy,
language, history, laws and cus-
toms and general Jewish infor-
mation. In addition, the
participants will interact with Is-
raeli families. The group will be
based at the Heritage House Hos-
tel in the Old City of Jerusalem.
The tour will depart Detroit on
Sunday, Dec. 22, and return on
Friday, Jan. 3. Call Machon
L'Torah for an application.

Holocaust Lecture
At Wayne State

The Cohn-Haddow Center for Ju-
daic Studies at Wayne State
University will have a lecture-dis-
cussion on "Holocaust Survivor-
Authors and Holocaust Education
in Germany Today: Transcend-
ing Boundaries," by Dr. Roslyn
Abt Schindler.
The lecture will be 3 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 31, in 4336 FAB
on the Wayne campus.
Dr. Schindler is associate pro-
fessor of humanities, director of
interdisciplinary studies and as-
sociate dean for degree programs
at the College of Lifelong Learn-
ing at WSU. For more than a
decade, she has been engaged in
an examination of autobiograph-
ical and other writings of four sur-
vivors who chose to remain in
Germany following the Holocaust
and who live in Germany today.
The lecture is free and open to
the public, but reservations are
