rity cabinet last Sunday, a
sobered Mr. Netanyahu and his
ministers received legal opinions
that the Waqf had not violated
any law.
It wasn't an simple decision,
especially as Jerusalem Deputy
Mayor Chaim Miller had argued
vehemently on television that
closing the mosque was vital to
showing the Arab world who
was sovereign in Jerusalem. But

tunnel affair was more foment
in the Arab world over a site as-
sociated with the al-Aqsa
Mosque.
