Nicole Goldman

The Michigan School Social
Workers Association has named
ANNE EVANS as School Social
Worker of the Year. She will re-
ceive the award at the group's
annual conference on Oct. 20.
Ms. Evans serves as school so-
cial worker at Scotch Elemen-
tary School in West Bloomfield,
and has held posts at Gretchko,
Ealy and Doherty elementary
schools for the past 10 years. She
-> coordinated the creation of cri-
sis intervention teams in each
building to deal with grief, loss
and trauma, and has worked as
a team leader for special educa-
tion support staff.

Two Akiva Hebrew Day School
seniors have distinguished
themselves in the 1997 Nation-
al Merit Scholarship Program.
SARA FELDMAN of South-
field has been named a Nation-
al Merit semifinalist. SARAH
SCHREIBER of Oak Park has
