Robert E. Rubin has been
forced to back out of his commit-
ment to speak at the Holocaust
Memorial Center's annual dinner
Oct. 20.
Madeleine K Albright, the U.S.
ambassador to the United Na-
tions, will substitute for Mr. Ru-
bin.
Ms. Albright was named to the
U.N. post by President Clinton in
January 1993. She had previous-
ly served as president of the Cen-

ter for National Policy, a nonprofit
research organization, and as a
research professor for interna-
tional affairs and director of the
Women in Foreign Service Pro-
gram at Georgetown University.
She is a former member of the
National Security Council and the
White House staff under Presi-
dent Jimmy Carter.
The Holocaust Memorial Cen-
ter dinner will be held 5 p.m. Sun-
day, Oct. 20, at the Westin Hotel
