did the laundry (hallelujah!), but
after she quit, I found two card-
board boxes full of white socks
tucked away in back of the wash-
ing machine. She would wash
'em, but she wouldn't sort 'em.
And I had wondered if the kids
were eating their socks.
To perform the aerobic sock
sort, you pour the mountain of
socks on the table and, trying to
beat the clock, pair them up. The

I'm sure staying fit
is a fine idea.

argyles and lace-trimmed ones
are easy, the white athletic socks
are hard. When you're all done,
you get two points for each pair
you toss into a drawer, with a
penalty deduction, one point per
sock, for the stray singletons (un-
less you just hide them in that
box behind the washer. Don't

fret; it's been done before).
Pass the Buck: You have to
warm up to this; you can't just
launch into it if you are out of
shape. Passing the buck isn't
only a taxing physical exercise,
it's mentally challenging, too.
First you identify a job that
needs to be done, then you pick
up the tool most critical to per-
forming the task. Say you have
a yard full of leaves, and a rake.
To pass the buck, walk through
the house with the rake. The first
person who can be induced to ask
you why you have the rake los-
es. "Here, it's for you," you can
announce, "The yard needs rak-
ing. Can you do it now?"
The buck pass works better if
the person you are passing to is
a medium-sized child, or some-
one otherwise dependent upon
you for their well-being. Passes
can be completed to husbands,
but it is a trickier exercise.
Then again, what fun is a
sport if there isn't a way to earn
bonus points?

WERE FIGHTING FOR YOUR LIFE

Murderer, Others
Guilty Of Plotting

Jerusalem (JTA) — An Israeli
court has convicted Yigal Amir,
the assassin of Yitzhak Rabin,
of conspiring to kill the prime
minister and of planning attacks
on Palestinians.
Mr. Amir, 26, is already serv-
ing a life sentence for the mur-
der of the prime minister.
The court also found Amir's
brother, Hagai, and a friend,
Dror Adani, guilty of the charges
of plotting to kill the premier and
attack Palestinians.
A three-judge panel in the Tel
Aviv District Court also found
the three guilty on weapons
charges and of conspiring to set
up an illegal underground orga-
nization.
The three will be sentenced
Oct. 3. Legal sources said they
could each face more than 25
years in prison.
The lengthy verdict, read out
by Judge Amnon Strashnov,
countered Yigal Amir's con-
tention that he acted alone when
carrying out the assassination.
Judge Strashnov accepted
prosecution evidence that Hagai
Amir and Adani actively pro-
posed methods of killing Mr. Ra-
bin.
He termed them "full part-
ners" in the slaying.
Hagai Amir and Adani each
denied that they had conspired
to kill Mr. Rabin.
Hagai Amir, 28, a weapons

expert who prosecutors said
made the hollow-point bullets
used to kill Mr. Rabin, said he
had heard of his brother's plans,
but never thought he would ac-
tually carry out the assassina-
tion.
Mr. Adani, 28, said he had vis-
ited the Amir home in hopes of
romancing the Amirs' sister and
had gotten drawn into conver-
sations about how to assassinate
the prime minister.
But the judges did not accept
their denials.
"After reviewing all the evi-
dence and reading the confes-
sions of the suspects, I have no
doubt that all three conspired to
kill the prime minister," Judge
Strashnov said.
