ZING a Washington (JTA) — The Li- brary of Congress has canceled a CD-ROM presentation on the history of Romania put together by a historian accused of holding anti-Semitic views. Kurt Treptow, an American who lives in Romania, was sched- uled to present the digital histo- ry project along with his book A History of Romania at the Na- tional Digital Library of the Li- brary of Congress. But the presentation was scrapped when B'nai B'rith and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Mu- seum raised objections about Mr. Treptow with the Library of Con- gress and the Romanian Em- bassy, which co-sponsored the event. The move comes after legal pro- ceedings against Mr. Krejsa, who is accused of assaulting people at a 1994 Czech-German commem- oration at the Theresienstadt ghetto, were halted. Mr. Krejsa, who won his Par- liament seat in June, is a member of the far-right Association for the Republic-Republican Party of Czechoslovakia. All Parliament members here have immunity. Police charged Mr. Krejsa with disorderly conduct after an inci- dent that took place outside the walls of the town of Theresien- stadt, which is called Terezin in Czech. Theresienstadt served as a ghetto between 1941 and 1945, to which about 150,000 Jews, mainly from Central and West- ern Europe, were deported by the Nazis. Five of Mr. Krejsa's companions have been found guilty of disor- derly conduct and fined between $75 and $300 each. One of these men, Lubomir Votava, is now on trial after being accused of assaulting a television cameraman during a Republican Party rally in October 1994.
