Hadassah Seeks
Volunteers

The Greater Detroit Chapter of
Hadassah needs volunteers for
its community outreach projects.
"Check It Out" is a breast can-
cer awareness program designed
for 11th- and 12th-grade girls.
To offer help, contact Barbara
Ben, 855-9792; or Beverly Fine,
661-6740.
Volunteers for the Doll Project
will gather every other week
(morning and evening) at Hadas-
sah House to cut out the dolls
and hospital gowns for young
children in area hospitals. Con-
tact Shelly Perlman, 357-3415.
Holiday food baskets for the
needy will be packed at the Bald-
win Center, Pontiac, on Wednes-
day, November 13, 9:30 a.m.-
12:30 p.m. Contact Deena
Mikon, 541-7074.
Newcomers' event is being
planned for Jewish women who
have moved to our community
within the last years so they can
network and be introduced to
Hadassah programming. To vol-
unteer for the planning commit-
tee or to add names of recent
arrivals, call Leslie Bash, 683-
4146.
Orchard Children's Services
Holiday Party is scheduled for
December 15.
Sundries Donations is an on-
going project. Bring hotel-motel
and other toiletry items to
Hadassah House for distribution
to area shelter prograins.
The Tutor-A-Student educa-
tion program provides ongoing
support to students at Avery Ele-
mentary in Berkley and Akiva
Day School in Southfield. No
teaching experience is required.

Read a storybook to a K-3
Ferndale student one or two
hours per week. Scheduling can
be individually arranged; no
teaching experience necessary.

their October luncheon meeting
noon Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Tem-
ple Emanu-El.
Guest speaker will be 'Sandy
Bauman; manager of Elder Med
at Botsford Hospital. Ms. Bau-
man will speak about "Putting
More Pleasure in Your Life," in-
cluding humor and relation-
ships.
