Gifts Luncheon

As part of its annual Youth Ser-
vices Appeal, Jewish Women In-
ternational will sponsor a
"Month of Love" Campaign for
the Residential Treatment Cen-
ter in Bayit Vagan, Israel, which
is fimded by monies provided by
Jewish Women International.
A Special Gifts Luncheon will
be held 11:45 a.m. on Wednes-
day, Oct. 30, at Congregation
B'nai Moshe. Lucy Gersten has
been appointed gifts chairman
and Ida Nathan as luncheon
chairman of the JWI Women's
Council of Metropolitan Detroit.
Ms. Gersten is past president
of JWI Council, past president of
Centennial Chapter, and past
chair of the former East Central
Region. She is a vice president of
Jewish Women International.
Ms. Nathan is a past president
of JWI Council and Morganthau
Chapter.
The honoree for this luncheon
is Lucille Weisberg, a life mem-
ber of Morganthau Chapter. For

Women Hear
Judicial Panel

The Adat Shalom Sisterhood will
hold a Paid-Up Membership
Lunch noon Monday, Oct. 14.
The program, titled "Judge for
Yourself," will feature four mem-
bers of the judicial community,
who will speak on how their faith
and Jewish upbringing have in-
fluenced their legal careers and
ambitions.
Participating on sisterhood's
judicial panel will be Judge Jes-
sica Cooper, Judge Susan Moi-
seev, Kimberly Small and Nanci
Grant.
Judge Cooper is currently an
Oakland County circuit court
judge, having previously served
as judge in the 46th District
Court. Judge Moiseev was ap-
pointed in 1986 by Governor
James Blanchard to her current
position as a 46th District Court
judge. Kimberly Small was a law
clerk for the now retired Judge
George LaPlata of the United
States District Court in Ann
Arbor. Nanci Grant is an attor-
ney in private practice.
The event is open to all
1996-97 paid-up members of the
synagogue's sisterhood. Reser-
vations by Monday, Oct. 7, are
required. Dues are $25. Those
women who have joined Adat
Shalom during the past year will
receive complimentary mem-
berships in the sisterhood for this
year.
