New York (JTA) — American
Jews serving with U.S. peace-
keepers in Bosnia have received
High Holidays "care packages"
from the Jewish-War Veterans
of the USA.
The "Peacekeeper Care Pack-
age" program was an extension
ofJWV's annual "Care Package
Campaign," which delivers food,
books and religious articles to
Jews serving in the U.S. armed
forces overseas.
Some 200 Jewish service per-
sonnel are in Bosnia.
"We are the only national Jew-
ish organization able to effec-
tively perform this mission and
to create a bridge between Amer-
ica's Jewish community and its
27 million strong veterans' com-
munity," said Neil Goldman,
JWV national commander.

Jerusalem (JTA) — Yuli
Kosharovsky, a leading candi-
date for the post of Israeli am-
bassador to Moscow, would not
be welcome by the Russians, ac-
cording to the Israeli daily
Ha'aretz.
Citing unnamed Israeli aides
who met recently with a Russian
deputy minister in Moscow, the
paper said the Russians' message
is that Mr. Kosharovsky, for-
merly a key figure in Zionist ac-
tivism among Russian Jews, is
regarded unfavorably as a dissi-
dent who emigrated.
Mr. Kosharovsky ran unsuc-
cessfully as a Likud candidate for
the Knesset in the May national
elections.
The present envoy to Moscow,
Professor Aliza Shenhar, who
was appointed by the previous
Labor government, ends her two-
year contract this autumn, and
the new government has indi-
cated that it intends to replace
her with its own appointee.
