Landing, Lathrup, 559-9099. An ele-
gant atmosphere, where all areas are
a different decor, make up this popu-
lar Middle Eastern restaurant. Many of
the dishes are not found in too many din-
ing spots of its type. Fresh squeezed fruits
and vegetables make up the raw juice
bar which people enjoy seven days a
week at all hours.

SOUTHFIELD

Excalibur, 28875 Franklin Road,
Southfield, 358-3355. When former
owner Pat Archer passed on, people
said Excalibur would also go. Howev-
er, they didn't reckon with Marty Wilk,
owner/chef who has made it one of met-
ropolitan Detroit's markedly popular din-
ing and dancing spots. It's Frank Sinatra's
favorite while in the local area. Enter-
tainment is Tues. thru Sat. and complete
catering at Excalibur plus homes, halls,
etc.

LIVONIA

D. Dennison's Seafood Tay-
em of Livonia, 37716 W. 6 Mile,

with a fresh raw bar and early dining
specials. Also featured are pasta, chick-
en dishes, salads and sandwiches, plus
a children's menu.

Gateway Deli, 21745 W. 11 Mile,

Harvard Row, Southfield, 352-4940. A
different touch has been given this pop-
ular delicatessen- restaurant by owner
Peter Bershaj. His assortment of gourmet
dishes are brought from Peter's former
Larco's days, and are combined with fa-
miliar traditional homemadeJewish dish-
es. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, party trays
and outside catering are Gateway Deli
standouts.

one of the newest Italian restaurants in
the Northwest Metropolitan area, Jim
and Chris Stevens, husband and wife
owners of Cicero's, know they are buck-
ing a lot of competition. But the sight of
customers coming back is a great sign.
It is open Mon.-Thurs. 11 to 10; Fri &

French Gourmet, 23421 Wood-
ward, Ferndale, 541-1200. At one time
a great place to go for French pastries
and desserts, this has become a full-
fledged restaurant with under 30 seats.
It serves gourmet-style food at reason-
able prices. Owners Marvin Bernstein
and wife/executive chef Tina Bernstein
also roast their own coffees and have
added new features from 40 French
syrups to an extensive line of teas,
Parisian vinegars, oils, honeys, preserves
and mustards. Although a complete
restaurant now, French Gourmet is still
a classic authentic French pastry shop
and bakery, with excellent special oc-
casion and wedding cakes. If going for
dinner, take a tip and make a reserva-
tion. Remember, seating capacity is
small.
