Holocaust Center Honors The Nivys

olomon and Aliza Nivy will
receive the Holocaust
Memorial Center's Legacy
Award for their support of the
museum and their sponsorship
of the publication The World Re-
acts to the Holocaust.
The award will be presented
at the HMC's 12th An-
niversary Dinner on
Sunday, Oct. 20, at 5
p.m. at the Westin Ho-
tel in Detroit's Renais-
sance Center.
The Nivys are dedi-
cated supporters of the
Hebrew University.
They established an en-
dowment fund to bring
Jewish students from
Russia to study at the
university and then re-
turn to lead the cultur-
al activities in their
communities in Russia.
This fund has been ex-
panded to include young
American Jewish lead-
ers who wish to contin-
ue their postgraduate
and doctoral studies at
the university. Solomon

Symposium Set
On Family Life

healthy family life will be the themes of
"Renewing Hope and Identity in Con-
temporary Jewish 1- kre," a parenting sympo-
sium, 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Temple
Israel
The Symposiurn is sponsored by the Com-
munity Outreach and Education Department
of the Jewish Federation of Metropolithn De-
troit and the Michigan Psychoanalytic Foun-
dation.
The evening will feature a keynote address
by Dr. Michael J. Bader, a doctor of mental
health and an affiliate member of the San
Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute who is
in private practice. Dr. Bader also is on the
editorial board of
Tikkun, a maga-
zine of Jewish
thought.
A dessert recep-
tion will follow the
program. There is
a charge of $18 per
person, $36 per
couple. Registra-
