SPECIAL TO THE APPLETREE

Q. I want to make certain
my daughter eats a healthy,
well-balanced meal in the
morning, but I find it hard
to coordinate my mornings
to do this Also, I want to
make sum she eats healthy
snacks, lunches (she takes
them to school) and din-
ners. My nights already are
crazy. Help!

A. Your goal of providing

healthy food for your daughter
is an important and worthy
one. All you need to do is to
tum it into a priority to make it
happen. With that in mind, I'm
sure you can make it happen on
a regular basis.
I know you say your nights
are "already crazy," but I as-
sume that you put together
some kind of dinner (unless you
eat out every night). For dinner,
it helps to remember that it
doesn't take any time at all to
throw fresh vegetables into a
steamer and to cut up a tomato
and add it to some lettuce (you
can even get lettuce that's been
cut and cleaned for your conve-
nience). A piece of broiled fish
(just stick it in a pan in the
oven, basically), and you have a
quick and terrific dinner.
Plan your menu a week in
advance; it will be easier to pull
it together. While you're cook-
ing dinner, take a few minutes
to put your child's lunch togeth-
er for the following day. ❑
