Prentis Manor announces it will close its doors
by year's end. The Allied Jewish Campaign is pro-
jecting $27.6 million, topping 1995 by $800,000.
This comes at a time when campaigns continue
to be flat all over the country.
Philanthropist William Davidson develops an
archeological park by the Western Wall in
Jerusalem.
Rabbi Lane Steinger will leave Temple Emanu-
El, and Rabbi A. Irving Schnipper announces his
retirement from Beth Abraham Hillel Moses.
Noa Ben Artzi-Pelossof, granddaughter of the
late Yitzhak Rabin, visits Detroit to talk about
her book, In The Name of Sorrow and Hope.
Irvin Abramson, a recluse, leaves millions of
dollars in stocks to three charities, with a

small percentage designated to Yeshiva Beth
Yehudah.
The ADL's Richard Lobenthal, after 35 years
of service, calls it quits. Congregation T'chiyah of
Detroit announces a move to Royal Oak.

niversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

Michelle Faudem, a Hillel graduate, returns to
her school as teacher and rabbi.
The Jewish News asks the community, "What
if Netanyahu Wins?"
Huntington Woods child Lauren Cohn, 4, is in
need of a bone-marrow transplant.
The Weinberg Biblical Playground and the
DeRoy Pre-School Playground at the Jimmy Pren-
tis Morris JCC will be refurbished.

anniversary.
