joint Women's Day sponsored by
several Jewish women's organi-
zations on Thursday, Oct. 10.
Titled "Image/Self-Image," the
Joint Women's Day will take
place from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at
Adat Shalom Synagogue. Ms.
Pogrebin will focus on the topic
of the day—and the subject of her
new book, Getting Over Getting
Older. There will be workshops
on holistic health, hormones, nu-
trition and cosmetic surgery.

Hold Conference
"Jewish Life in the '90s: Not a
Spectator Sport" will be the
theme of the United Jewish Ap-
peal Midwest Young Leadership
Conference Nov. 8-10 at the Hy-
att Regency, Cincinnati.
Local chairmen are Stacey
Crane and Rabbi Steven Weil.
Associate chairpersons are Sari
Cicurel, Pam Lippitt, Josh Op-
perer and Young Adult Division
President Aaron Sherbin. Pho-
tojournalist Edward Serotta will
speak.
The weekend will include
Shabbat services, learning ses-
sions with national Jewish lead-
ers, a mixer for singles, classes
on Jewish traditions and a Sat-
urday night party.
A subsidy will be provided by
the Jewish Federation of Metro-
politan Detroit, bringing the reg-
istration cost down to $99.
Registration deadline is Oct. 11.
