Jerusalem (JTA) — Israeli com-
poser Yair Rosenblum, whose
"Peace Song" was the anthem of
the Nov. 4 Tel Aviv rally where
Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin
was slain, has died in Holon af-
ter a two-year illness.
He was 52.
In the 1960s and 1970s, Mr.
Rosenblum served as musical di-
rector of the Israel Defense Force
chorus. In recent years, he
worked with various bands and
choral groups.
Mr. Rosenblum wrote more
than 1,000 songs, including "Am-
munition TM," "In a Red Dress,"
"The Beautiful Life," "Tranquil-
ity," "Hallelujah" and "With
What Will I Bless Him."
"Peace Song," which

banned from being broadcast on
Army Radio.
At the pace rally in-Tel Aviv,

Song."
After Mr. Rabin was shot, a

his jacket.
In 10. days, Mr. Rosenblum
was to be honored by the Associ-
ation of Musicians and Song-
writers for his life's work.
He was to be buried at Kibbutz
Einat.

Jerusalem.(JTA) — An Israeli
military court has sentenced a
Palestinian to 22 years in prison
for aiding the Hamas terrorists
who kidnapped and murdered Is-
raeli Cpl. NaehShon Waxman
two years ago.
Zakariya Lutfi Najib, 40, was
convicted, among other things, of
renting the house in West Bank
village north of Jerusalem where
Mr. Waxman was held.
Mr. Waxman was killed Oct.
14, 1994, during a rescue attempt
by Israeli commandos.
Three kidnappers and an Is-
raeli officer, Capt. Nir Poraz,
were also killed during the ex-
change of gunfire.
Mr. Waxman's parents were
angered by the sentence, saying
that it was too lenient.
Earlier this month, an Islam-
ic militant was sentenced to 30
years in prison for his role in
Waxman's kidnapping.
- Mr. Waxman's mother, Es-
ther, said at the time she was ap-
palled that the court had not
handed down a sentence of life
imprisoninent
She also said she believed that
the death penalty was warrant-
ed.
