Family Picnic
At Adat Shalom
Adat Shalom Synagogue and its
Youth & Education Department
will hold a family picnic on Sun-
day, Sept. 8. The picnic will be-
gin at 11 a.m., following the
opening session of -religious
school. Open to both members
and prospective members, this
event also marks the kick-off of
Adat Shalom's Youth Depart-
ment 1996-97 activities. The pic-
nic will run until 2 p.m.
A Sukkah workshop, spon-
sored by the synagogue's men's
club, will offer practical advice on
how to construct your own
sukkah. Rabbi Daniel Nevins
will talk about "Creative Sukkah
Observances — "Now That We've
Built it, What Do We Do?" The
workshop will start at 11:30 p.m.
A picnic lunch will be on sale
at nominal prices. Due to the
rules of kashrut, only food pre-
pared by the synagogue may be
eaten on the premises. Lunch is
free for all those families who reg-
ister their children for this sea-
son's youth group programs.

office, 851-5100, by Sept. 3.

Is Installed
On Thursday, Sept. 5, at 7:30
p.m., Rabbi Aaron Bergman will
be officially installed at rabbi of
Congregation Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses.
Rabbi Bergman has been the
assocaite rabbi of the congrega-
tion since 1991. He has also
served as the rabbi-in-residence
for Hillel Day School from 1991-
1995. He is a graduate of the
University of Michigan and the
Jewish Theological Seminary.
Rabbi Irwin Groner of Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek will in-
stall Rabbi Bergman. A dessert
reception will follow. For reser-
