MJAC - Michigan Jewish AIDS Coalition

The Michigan Jewish AIDS Coalition offers education pro-
grams, referral and support to those concerned with or touched
by AIDS.
MJAC programs contain current HIV/AIDS medical informa-
tion and incorporate Jewish values and responsibilities to those
who are ill.
MJAC's family education curriculum: "Choose Life so That You
May Live—A Jewish Family HIV/AIDS Education Experience," is a
series for teens and their parents with factual AIDS information
and prevention tips.

MJAC needs volunteers to serve as peer educators or facilitators of its cur-
riculum. Training is Sept. 8, 9, or 10. There is no cost for these sessions
and kosher meals are served. Also, please join MJAC, Sept. 26 for Us
Open House at 5:00-6:45 p.m. and Annual Meeting at 7:00 p.m. Call

JOYCE W. ADELSON, 56,
died Aug. 19. Mrs. Adelson was
a concert pianist, teacher and
lecturer. She received her for-
mal musical training as a schol-
arship student at both the
Cleveland Institute of Music
and the Eastman School of Mu-
sic, where she was awarded the
performance certificate in pi-
ano. Her New York debut in
1962 was held in Carnegie
Recital Hall.
She and her twin sister
Joanne were awarded top prize
in the International Music
Competition for duo-pianists in
Munich in 1964 and together
they appeared with major or-
chestras including the Detroit
Symphony Orchestra and the
Bavarian Radio Orchestra, the
Eastman Rochester Symphony
and the Rochester Pops. Recent
appearances included chamber
concerts with members of the
Detroit Symphony, Pittsburgh
Symphony and the Cleveland
Orchestra. Since 1974, Mrs.
Adelson had been on the faculty
of Oakland University where
she taught applied piano and
piano ensemble. While at Oak-
land, she founded Friends of
Four Hands, an organization
devoted to the the exploration
of chamber music for duo piano
teams.
She is survived by her hus-
band, Irwin; sons, Michael,
Robert, Andrew; sister, Joanne;
brother, Gerald; mother, Mae.

JOSEPHINE COLTON, 81,
of West Bloomfield, died Aug.
23. Mrs. Colton was a co-
founder and former president of
Automatic Apartment Laun-
dries that recently celebrated
its 50th year in business as a
supplier of laundry room equip-
ment to apartment complexes
throughout the midwest. She
was also a devoted board mem-
ber of Temple Israel and its sis-
terhood and Women's Ameri-
can ORT.
She is survived by her sons
and daughters-in-law, Rabbi
Lawrence and Roberta of On-
tario, Richard and Judy of
Bloomfield Hills; grandchil-
dren, Howard Colton, Carey
Colton, Amy Colton and fiance
Jason Brooks and Craig Colton.
Mrs. Colton was the beloved
wife of the late Harry Colton.
Interment at Oakview Ceme-
tery. Contributions may be

BERNARD LIEBERMAN,
95, of Long Boat Key, Fla. and
formerly of Huntington Woods,
died Aug. 22. Mr. Lieberman
was an attorney, builder, social
activist and charitable giver
and founding member of Tem-
ple Emanu-El.
He is survived by his son and
daughter-in-law, Paul and
Lynn of West Bloomfield;
daughter, Susan Yacenda of
Port Charlotte, Fla.; grandchil-
dren, Beth, David and Lisa
Lieberman of West Bloomfield,
