FALL 1996 / 5757 Meet Patricia Paterni EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, QUALITY KOSHER CATERING atri cia Paterni's party experience began 20 years ago when she was helping her mother-in- law with "afterglow" parties at the Detroit Institute of Arts. The young, energetic wide-eyed waitress turned a part-time job into a reward- ing career in the catering in ' dustry. "I fell in love with cater- ing," Patricia exclaimed, now known to the party community as Patti. "What I like most about my work is being part of the exciting, special moments in peoples' lives. I feel a sense of responsibility in framing their lifelong memories." Her love for catering grew, and her knowledge of kosher catering expanded under Royal Kosher Catering, g, which eventually evolved into to Ouality Kosher Catering. Owner Paul Kohn needed someone with hands- on experience to help guide his new company. Patti was the secret ingredient of their recipe for success. Patti, a wife and mother of two, learned to be an ace organizer and trouble shoot- er during childhood as the second oldest of eight chil- dren. Being a "junior mom," caretaking became second nature to her. As executive director for the past 15 years at Quality In March, Quality Kosher Catering catered a fund-raiser for President Clinton. Executive Director Patti Paterni (shown here with the President) said it was a very exciting event and she was most impressed with the President's "down-to-earth" demeanor. Kosher Catering, Patti focuses on every detail when orchestrating a party. When a party is held in a home, she pays special attention to the traffic flow within the house, as well as custody and care of clients' homes. Before each party, Patti meets with the wait staff and, in her role as director, goes through a detailed script and a complete menu for the event. Another important aspect of her job is to meet with Paul and Chef Michael to discuss the specifics of each party. "Her input on food pre- sentation, selection of dishes and the party flow is invalu- able," said Paul. "She car- ries the executive mantel with confidence and pride. Patti is a friend, a confidant and a source of inspiration." Working for the same company for so many years is rare. Patti attributes her faithfulness to the lack of monotony. "One day is never like the next. We draw on all our resources and experiences. As a result, our parties are always changing. We constantly incorporate new ideas to meet our clients' needs, and we have the opportunity to be creative on a daily basis." From handling each catered event to overseeing the distribution of special orders on the holidays, Patti stresses that the success of Quality Kosher Catering is the company's teamwork approach. "From Paul and Chef Michael to the wait staff, we all work together in a synchronized effort for the success of the party. That's what we are all about." ■ z H z H ;24 C H For questions regarding how we can help you with your catering needs, call Quality Kosher Catering at (810) 352-7758. z
