30 minutes late and then they
only met with us for half an hour."
"They were there to give their

The latest scheduled round of
negotiations took place Wednes-
day night with many differences
to be resolved. Issues included the
amount of a pay raise, the num-
ber of days in the school year, an
increase in longevity bonus, the
length of the next contract and
docking of pay for days off near
scheduled holidays.
"We still have a lot of ground
to cover," said Shula Fleischer,
president of the teachers union.

board of directors, headed by
board president Dr. Marcy Bo-

issues could be resolved before
the students are scheduled to re-

"We did not come to any

• The teacher's union has
asked for a 5 percent raise for
the upcoming school year and a
4.5 percent raise for the second
year of the contract; the board
has offered a 3 percent raise for
the first year and a 2.5 percent
raise for the following year.
In a recent letter to parents,
Dr. Borofsky explained that in-
creases in salary may have an
impact on tuition.
Tuition at the K-8 school is
$2,275 higher than it was in
1992 when the teachers picket-
ed the school. The 1991-92
school year had a yearly tuition
of $4,875, which was raised the
following year to $5,300. Cur-
rently, parents pay either $7,150
or $6,550, depending on income; (--/
scholarships are available to
those unable to pay.
