lan Zekelman has been
named the chairman of
the Holocaust Memorial
Center's 12th Anniversary
Dinner Event to be held on Sun-
day evening, Oct. 20, at the West-
in Hotel in Detroit's Renaissance
Center.
Mr. Zekelman, of Bloomfield
Hills, is president of various com-
panies founded by his late father
Harry Zekelman.
Mr. Zekelman grew up in
Windsor. He and his family have
been strong financial supporters
of the United Jewish Appeal of
Windsor, the Jewish National
Fund of Canada, the Canadian
Friends of Yeshiva University,
the Canadian Friends of Hebrew
University, the University of
Windsor, the Holocaust Memor-
ial Center, the University of
Rochester, Bar-Ilan University,
the Lubavitch Youth Organiza-
tion, Ner Israel Rabbinical Col-
lege and Emunah Women of
Canada.
Mr. Zekelman has twice
served as secretary of the reli-
gious school at Shaar Hashomay-
im and has served as a member
of its board of directors for near-
ly a decade. He also is on the

board of the Windsor Jewish
Community Council and the
Windsor division of the Jewish
National Fund of Canada. He
has served twice as co-chairman
of the annual United Jewish Ap-
peal of Windsor campaign. He
also serves on the Yeshiva Col-
lege Board of Yeshiva Universi-
ty.
