Run Sept. 29
Hockey tryouts for the U.S. ice
hockey team that will participate
in the 1997 World Maccabiah
Games in Israel will be held in
Southfield this weekend.
Tryouts will be held Saturday
and Sunday, Aug. 24-25, at the
Southfield Civic Center ice arena.
Arrangements can be made for
Sabbath-observant players to try
out only on Sunday.

ial Fun Run and Walk has been
scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 29,

Cobras Win
League, Tourneys
The North Farmington, West
Bloomfield (NFWB) Cobras 10-
year-old travel team won its Lit-
tle Caesars league baseball
championship and three invita-
tional tournaments.
The Cobras won their 13-team
league title, with a 17-3 record, be-
hind the pitching of Mike Hand,
Jonathan Noble and Matt
Waskerwitz.
The team had a .362 team bat-
ting average, with key fielding
contributions from Steven Anto-
niotti, Kris Clark, Andrew Dia-
mond, Josh Feinberg, Kyle
Phillips, Thomas Phillips, Robert
Reznick, A.J. Rice and David
Swenson.
The team also won the Warren,
Mt. Morris and Oxford tourna-
ments. The Cobras are managed
by Harvey Reznick and coached
by Roy Phillips, with assistance
from Tom Phillips and Bill Swen-
son.

mer. But on Aug. 1, he shot a hole-
in-one on the 122-yard seventh
hole at Union Lake Golf Club.

Park is offering a number of com-
petitive leagues and fitness class-
es for all ages in the fall:
* Sunday in-line hockey
leagues begin Nov. 17 for ages 7-
10, 11-14 and 15-17.
* Outdoor soccer leagues run
Oct. 13-Nov. 24 on Sundays for
ages 4-5, 6-8 and 9-13.
* Adult basketball for men will
be on Sundays, beginning Oct.
13.
* Adult basketball for women
will be Thursday evenings, be-
ginning Oct. 16.
* Open adult pick-up basket-
ball will be 1-7 p.m. Saturdays
and 8:30-10 p.m. Thursdays.
* Open adult volleyball will be
8:30-10 p.m. on Mondays.
Center fitness classes at the
JPM will include yoga, weightlift-
ing, non-impact aerobics for se-
niors, Russian-language fitness
instruction and flexibility for
those with Parkinson's or multi-
ple sclerosis.
