but to be Torah."
There is not a word of that
that any Orthodox rabbi in the
world would not agree with 100
percent.
Recently, Rabbi Pinchas Men-
achem Alter, the Grand Rabbi of
Ger, passed away. When a giant
of Torah dies, we must pay at-
tention. For when God takes a
leader from us, he is trying to tell
us something. In the days before
his unexpected death, the Rebbe,
who was 69 and in good health,
was said to be very drained and
talked about not being able to do
any more to help K'lal Yisrael.
Just three days before his
death, the Rebbe, along with the
Vishnitzer Rebbe, published a
front-page appeal in a major re-
ligious newspaper in Israel, beg-
ging Jews to come together.
"Enough with the arguments
among us," they said.
We must listen to those words
before it is too late and recognize
that only together can we sur-
vive, can we thrive.
And if we recognize that, there
won't be a need for Joe Judaism.
Oh well. I am totally for uni-
ty, but I must admit I kinda liked
the sound of Chief Rabbi Joe.

Israel Strikes
At Hezbollah

Jerusalem (JTA) — Israeli fight-
er jets rocketed Hezbollah tar-
gets in Lebanon, hours before the
first meeting of the five-nation
group formed to monitor the
U.S.-brokered cease-fire between
Israel and Hezbollah.
Israeli planes hit Hezbollah
targets in eastern Lebanon's
Bekaa Valley in two pre-dawn
strikes.
There was no immediate re-
port of casualties in the air at-
tacks, which came after
Hezbollah gunmen killed an Is-
raeli soldier, Staff Sgt. Asian
Tehauhu, in the security zone
earlier.
The monitoring committee de-
voted its first meeting in the
southern Lebanon town of
Nakoura to planning how it
would operate.
The group, which has repre-
sentatives from the United
States, France, Israel, Syria and
Lebanon, will deal with viola-
tions of the April 27 cease-fire
that ended 16 days of cross-bor-
der fighting between Israel and
Hezbollah.
The cease-fire bars either side
from launching attacks on or
from civilian areas on either side
of Israel's northern border, but
it does not prevent fighting with-
in the security zone.
