annual Mandell and Madeleine
Berman Award for Outstanding
Professional Service.
The award recognizes the con-
tributions of professionals em-
ployed by Federation, its
agencies or beneficiaries.
Mr. Berke is former executive
director of the Allied Jewish
Campaign. During his 2 1/2
decades at Federation, he helped
lay leaders achieve Campaign
proceeds of nearly $28 million
yearly and has helped chart new
directions in annual endowment
and capital campaigns.
He has staffed the Israel and
overseas components of Feder-
ation's activities and coordinat-
ed dozens of missions to Israel.
Before joining Federation, Mr.
Berke was executive director of
