Sheffer Passes
On NBA Chance

Jerusalem — University of Con-
necticut basketball guard and Is-
raeli native Doron Sheffer has
decided to sign a three-year con-
tract with Israeli champion Mac-
cabi Tel Aviv.
Sheffer was the 38th pick in
the National Basketball Asso-
ciation draft last month, select-
ed in the second round by the Los
Angeles Clippers. But Sheffer de-
cided to play in Israel after he as-
sessed his chances of making the
Clippers team as "less than zero."
His contract has an escape
clause in case he is offered a
chance to make another NBA
team.
