Horowitz

Mr. Bernard co-chaired, along
with Susan Pappas, last year's
dinner and helped lead a record
campaign for the university in
Detroit and in the Midwest. Mr.
Bernard has held a number of
Bar-Ilan positions, particularly
those dealing with young leader-
ship. In addition, he serves on the
executive committee of UJA's Na-
tional Young Leadership Cabi-
net, is a past president and
campaign chairman of the Jew-
ish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit's Young Adult Division,
chairs the Jewish Vocational Ser-
vice's Professional Services Com-
mittee, and has been active in
Israel Bonds, ORT, JARC, Adat
Shalom Synagogue, ALPAC, and
the Michigan Epilepsy Founda-
tion.
Michael Horowitz has been ac-
tive with the university's Detroit
Friends for a decade. In the past
he has served as vice chairman,
and along with Susan Pappas, co-
chaired the university's anniver-
sary marking Bar-Tlan's 40th
Anniversary and Phillip Stoll-
man's 90th birthday. He also par-
ticipated in the Detroit Friends'
\---) "University on Wheels" Mission
in 1990. In addition, Mr.
Horowitz has been active in the
Jewish Federation of Metropoli-
tan Detroit, including activity in
the Zuckerman campaign lead-
ership group, Federation's Capi-
tal Needs Committee and served
as Jewish Community Center
\Th Master Planning and Imple-
mentation Liaison. He is vice
president of the Anti-Defamation
League's Michigan Regional Ad-
visory Board, on the board of di-
rectors of Congregation Shaarey
Zedek and Hillel Day School, and
is a past vice president of the
Jewish Family Service.
