MIMMIM MI'M

Have You had Big Daddy's Tommy Salad Yet?
Or Our Fabulous Lamb Chops?

Welcome to the best Greek food this

grette, $15.95 ... and whitefish
(40 pounds) baked with Italian
bread crumbs, $12.95.
Chicken, too, is quite popular
at Colangelo's ... with about 200
pounds of the seven established
favorites sold weekly.
Colangelo's also makes its own
desserts, including a delicious
tiramisu ... Creamy spumoni is
brought in a large, heavy
stemmed glass.
Even the wine list prices have
been kept down. You can get a
glass of red Columbia Crest mer-
lot for $4.95, or Bollini merlot
$3.95 ... The wonderful Kendall
Jackson white chardonnay is
$5.95, and Pinot Grigio Pighin,
estate bottled, just $4.50.
Good Italian red wines range
from $2.95 for Montepulociano,
Casal Thaulero, to Spalletti chi-
anti, $3.95, among others.
From our standby beginning
when dining Italian ... extra vir-
gin olive oil mixed with freshly
crushed garlic cloves for dipping
the Italian bread ... to the mine-
strone soup and veal piccata
made with lemon sauce and top-
ping of artichokes (tender enough
to cut with a fork), Colangelo's as
a dining experience was a pleas-
ant culinary adventure.
A lot of the dishes are prepared
the old-fashioned Italian way ...
Like Manicotti Florentine, which
is a crepe, not a noodle, stuffed
with spinach and ricotta cheese.

Colangelo's is
starting to get that
repeat business.

As the weeks begin drifting by,
it is apparent that Colangelo's in
Pontiac is making people aware
of its existence ... with come-back
satisfaction.
You wouldn't expect any less
from the son of Mark
"Schmaltzy" Colangelo and Rose
Larco Colangelo.
CONGRATS ... to Debbie and
Alan Hitsky, Jewish News asso-
ciate editor ... on their 25th an-
niversary ... to Hy Horenstein,
former topnotch deli owner ... on
his 85th birthday ... to his sons,
Ray, 54, and Joe, 45, and daugh-
ter, Anne Galido, 51 ... All four
birthday candle blowings-out
were celebrated within a week.
PIZZA SURPRISES are in
the kosher rounders by the new
Jerusalem Kosher Pizza carry-
out, Southfield Road, about a
half-block north of 10 Mile.
The pizzas are better than
many others ... kosher or
nonkosher.
Specialties like the potato
pizza, with slices of potato,
cheese, red onion, olive oil and
rosemary, are receiving excep-
tional raves ... Same for the
supreme with cheese, mush-
room, green pepper, onion, black
olives, green olives, tomato (and,

on request only, red pepper).
The calzones made by Jeru-
salem Pizza (pizza, cheese and
Greek) also join the winner circle.

side of Greektown. ..featuring wonderful Greek Favorites.

WHERE THEY ARE ...

Frankie and Rose Potestio, 4307
Mourning Dove Dr., Naples, FL

directed by her husband, Mike.
Sylvia also flies around the
country doing private parties, at
which she is a heavy favorite
with her piano, songs and come-
dy.
Sylvia has emceed the New-
port Jazz Festival ... and last year
was on a jazz documentary
shown around the world.

ry Warshaw ... among so many
other places hereabouts.
THIS YEAR, through a con-
tribution by localites George and
Pearl Zeltzer, the one-millionth
volume was put on the rare-book
shelf of Judaic studies at Bran-
deis University.
Although Isaac Leeser's book,
The Law of God, won't be one of
them, many wonderful buys will
again be on tap when Brandeis
National Women's Committee lo-
cally holds its used book sale '96
at Tel-12 Mall, Telegraph and 12
Mile.

NO MORE bemoaning the
leaving of food when dining at
Chianti on Northwestern High-
way ... Now it has a single-serv-
ing-size section on the large
menu ... 11 items that include re-
gional specialties, pasta, chick-
en, veal and fish.
The big-enough-to-share por-
tions are still there in the char-
acteristic northern Italian form
of cooking that features classic
family-style dining.
DON'T FORGET this Sun-
day ...18th anniversary summer
party by Excalibur on Franklin,
from 5 p.m. ... No charge. ❑
