Dinner Dance
Honors Skiars

The American Red Magen David
for Israel, Dr. John J. Mames
Chapter, has named Libby and
Leo Sklar the recipients of its Dis-
tinguished Humanitarian Ser-
vice Award. A dinner dance in
their honor will be held on Sun-
day, Sept. 8, at Adat Shalom Syn-
agogue.
Mr. Sklar, a 1951 graduate of
Wayne State University School
of Business Administration, has
been actively involved in real es-
tate development and manage-
ment since 1965 and is partner

of Wingate Management Corpo-
ration and North Cranbrook As-
sociates. He is a director of the
Southfield Non-profit Housing
Corporation, and a commission-
er on the city of Southfield Hous-
ing Commission. He is a director
of the Michigan Housing Coun-
cil. Mr. Sklar is a trustee of the
Ecumenical Institute for Jewish
Christian Studies and is a direc-
tor of the Jewish Federation
Apartments.
Mrs. Sklar is a founder and life
member of Hadassah. She is also
a life member of the Women's
Guild of Sinai Hospital and of
B'nai B'rith. Her other member-
ships include the Congregation
Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood, Ma-
gen David Adom, ORT, Israel
Tennis Centers, and the Make-
A-Wish Foundation.

Ohr Somayach
Hosts Scholar

Ohr Somayach Detroit has es-
tablished a special scholar in res-
idence for the month of August,
Rabbi David B. Foster.
Rabbi Foster is a native De-
troiter. He attended Brown Uni-
versity and Yeshiva University.
For the past 16 years. Rabbi Fos-
ter has lived in Jerusalem study-
ing and teaching.
