President's Views
Not In Question

We are disappointed by the harsh
reaction of certain members of the
Conference of Presidents of Major
American Jewish Organizations
to our delegation's recent meeting
with President Clinton. (This let-
ter refers to the JTA article "Clin-
ton's refusal to pardon Pollard
enrages spy's backers" July 29,
1996.)

THE FACE-THAT LAUNCHED A 1000 SHIPS.

Inspired by his original collection for the Italian Navy, Franchi Menotti's marine
sports watch is the most popular face in Italy since the Mona Lisa. The Franchi
Menotti's marine sports collection combines Swiss efficiency with the best of
Italian design and frankly, has been known to make a lot of waves.

President Clinton: A friend.

We, personally, were honored
to have met with the president for
the second time in two years as
part of the Conference of Presi-
dents delegation The atmosphere
at the meeting was candid and
convivial.
A question-and-answer session
was not refused by the president,
as has been reported, but rather
preempted by the Conference
leadership's presentation of gifts
to the president immediately fol-
lowing his address. In fact, the
president finished the meeting by
speaking personally with sever-
al members of the delegation for
10-15 minutes.
President Clinton has been ar-
guably the most pro-Israel presi-
dent in the history of this nation.
His history of steadfast support
for Israel has been invaluable in
encouraging it in the pursuit of a
secure and durable peace.
The president is also one of the
American Jewish community's
closest friends. He is not only sup-
portive of our issues but clearly
feels personally comfortable in our
frequent presence, as evidenced
by the numerous invitations many
of us have received to the White
House and the many events in our
community that the president and
the vice president have attended.
