Lectures Set
At Machon

Machon L'Torah, the Jewish
Learning Network of Michigan,
will host a special educational
event led by Rabbi Steven Weil,
rabbi of Young Israel of Oak
Park, on "Religion of the Mind"
at Machon L'Torah on Wednes-
day, Aug. 7, at 7:30 p.m.
Rabbi Weil will speak about
a practical approach to attain-
ing and maintaining a vibrant
Jewish lifestyle. An ice cream
social will follow. For informa-

In addition, Machon L'Torah
will hold its next summer
session of JudaiCollege educa-
tional program on Tuesday,
Aug. 6, at 7:15 p.m. Rabbi Avra-
ham Jocobovitz will lecture on
"Six Short Steps To Basic
Judaism — Life-Styles." Simul-
taneously, Rabbi Steven Et-
tinger will speak on Jewish
ethics. At 8:15 p.m., Rabbi Naf-
tali Kirzner, assistant director
of Machon L'Torah, will lecture
on "Back to the Future," — a
session on the weekly Torah
portion. Refreshments will be
served. The program will be
held at the Machon Learning

"Caring for Your Aging Parent"
is a program to be held at the
Maple-Drake Jewish Commu-
nity Center on Thursday, Aug.
22, at 7:30 p.m. and will be free
of charge.
Rick Bloom, radio talk show
host of "Money Talk" on WXYT,
will be the moderator of the
panel on Medicare and Medic-
aid, legal issues, home support
services, housing options for old-
er adults, home for aged and
nursing home options, health is-
sues affecting the elderly and
Jewish hospice.
There will be a Resource Fair
following the panel discussion
where information and advice
from agency representatives will
be made available.
The program is co-sponsored
by the Jewish Community Cen-
ter, the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit, Hospice
of Southeastern Michigan, The
Jewish News, the LeVine Insti-
tute on Aging of the Jewish
Home For Aged, and with the
planning assistance from the
Jewish Information and Refer-
ral Service.
