Tillie Brandwine

In advance of the November
ceremony, Mrs. Brandwine will
be honored at a Women's Division
Jerusalem 3000 Golda Meir Club
Dinner for Israel Bonds pur-
chasers of $5,000 and over. This
event, chaired by Penny Blu-
menstein and Doreen Hermelin,
will be hosted by Marlene and
Paul Borman on Thursday
evening, Aug. 22. Linda Scherz-
er, director of Minority Relations
for the Israel Consulate General
of New York and former CNN
Midwest correspondent, will be
the guest speaker.
Mrs. Brandwine, active in the
Israel Bonds Campaign since its
inception in the early 1950s, has
chaired numerous fund-raising
functions for Bond and received
the Women's Division "Woman of
Valor" Award in 1970. She re-
mains a member of the Women's
Division Board.
Mrs. Brandwine's philan-
thropic activities encompassed
Hadasssah; Congregation B'nai
David and Jewish National Fund
which honored her in 1987; she
presided as president of the
Women's Division and served, as
well, as chairman of the Culture
and Education Division of the
JWF, becoming the first woman
to chair a budgeting division. As
vice-president of the Jewish Fam-
ily Service, she helped organize
the nursing home visiting pro-
gram. She has also served as Jew-
ish Federation Apartments vice
president, Hillel Day School pres-
ident and was presented with the
Federation's on-going Butzel
Award.
