Stephen Cooper

The Oakland Century Lodge
will present its 24th annual
Spirit of B'nai Brith and Schol-
arship Awards July 30, at 8 p.m.
at the Adat Shalom Synagogue.
Sol M. Kozloff will be the hon-
oree. He is active in Oakland
Century, Pisgah Lodge, Temple
Israel, Veteran of Foreign Wars
and Jewish War Veterans.
Judge Stephen C. Cooper will
be the speaker. Judge Cooper is
the past president of the Michi-
gan District Judges Association.
He was elected to the 46th Dis-
trict Court in 1986 and has
served as its chief judge.
The program will include the
awarding of three $500 schol-
arships to Jewish students
whose academic and social
achievements indicate future
commitment to the Jewish com-
munity. The scholarship awards
are the gifts of Rosa and Ben-
jamin Bohm, Anne and Aaron
Ginsberg and Marilyn and Irv-
ing Rollinger.

Bingo will start at 12:30 on Mon-
day, July 22, at the Jimmy Pren-
tis Morris Jewish Community
Center. There is a charge.
On Thursday, July 25, at 1
p.m. two films commemorating
Tisha B'Av will be shown. The
first, Wake the Dawn: The Story
of the Temple, uses animation as
well as documentary footage
of ,Jerusalem. The second,
Jerusalem: Soul of a People,
shows the history of the city pre-
sented in a collage of animation
and film footage.
Music Appreciation with Fabs
Kaldobsky will be Tuesday, July
23, at 1 p.m. Refreshments will
be served; there is no charge.
