JACK KATZ, 92, of Southfield,
died July 13. Mr. Katz was a
graduate of Detroit Central
High School. In 1939, he bought
25 apple machines and placed
them in bowling alleys and vari-
ous retail establishments. Later,
he delivered building paper from
the trunk of his car. Mr. Katz
then started a building supply
busines; in 1950 he boguht out
his partner and became the
founder of Herald Wholesale. He
was a lifetime member of Adat
Shalom Synagogue, the Masonic
Order, B'nai B'rith and the Fur-
niture Club.
Mr. Katz was the beloved
husband of the late Mildred
Katz. He is survived by his sons
and daughters-in-law, Herbert
and Ruth of West Bloomfield,
Gerald and Janice of Bloomfield
Hills; grandchildren, Steven and
Joanne Katz, Debra Katz, Mar-
cie and Eric Lipsitt, Michael and
Stacie Katz, Lori and Kenny
Cantor; great-grandchildren,
Monica, Ariel, Nicole, Michele,
Andrew, Tech; sister, Peggy
Glassman.
