Weine Institute
Offers Course

The Rabbi Max Weine Institute
for Judaism will present a course
targeted to those who wish to
learn more about Judaism, start-
ing Sept. 11, at Congregation
Beth Shalom. Using the book
Embracing Judaism as a text,
the course will be taught by
Rabbi David Nelson, along with
Alicia Nelson, instructor in He-
brew, Judaic history and cus-
toms.
Class meetings will be held for
15 weeks on Wednesday evenings
from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Some ba-
sic Hebrew instruction also will
be given as well as tutoring in
reciting many frequently-used
brachot.
Those interested in register-
ing should contact one of the
Conservative rabbis in the com-
munity. Each participant must
be sponsored into the course by
one of these rabbis. If a potential
student is not in contact with a
specific rabbi, he may call Rabbi
