ey Berkowitz. "After all, they're
ours," explains Dr. Feigin.
There is no college basketball
in Israel. But in the last few years
many high schools have been
fielding teams and competing
with one another. "I've heard of
high school principals trying to
lure good players who live far
away by offering to send taxis to
take them to and from school,"
said Dr. Feigin. "Just recently a
high school in Ra'anana was
playing a championship game in
Jerusalem, and the principal
closed the school for the day, and
all the teachers and students rode
down on buses to see the game.
A few years ago this would have
been unheard of."
