Have You had Big Daddy's Tommy Salad Yet?
Or Our Fabulous Lamb Chops?

Welcome to the best Greek food this

And of course the Tavern
seafood chowder and classic
French onion soup ... About 10
sandwiches are served all day
and evening.
Feel like pizza? ... You can get
that too at Chuck Muer's Seafood
Tavern ... with house-made
sausage, pepperoni, onion, mush-
rooms and three cheeses (moz-
zarella, provolone and
parmigiano-reggiano), or indi-
vidual pizzas with tomato sauce
and three cheeses and fresh basil
(it also comes with house-made
sausage or pepperoni) ... Smoked
salmon pizza is with dill, capers
and crispy fried leeks ... plus oth-
ers.
Ever have low-fat apple
strudel? ... Try it here and become
a believer ... There are always at
least 10 desserts, including Michi-
gan cherry pie, Key lime pie, New
York style cheesecake with berry
sauce, devil's food chocolate cake
with caramel sauce, shark fin pie,
etc.
Wines are both by the glass
and bottle ... with a good listing
of fine-bodied vino to select from.
Following the opening, Chuck
Muer's Seafood Tavern heads
readily admitted that their

Tavern is back up
to speed.

servers were a bit rusty ... which
made for many dissatisfied cus-
tomers.
Give them a lot of credit for re-
alizing this and making the nec-
essary adjustments ... Too many
restaurant operations are guilty
of doing little about it.
As a result, customers who
stayed away have come back ...
and returned again.
Seeing those people walk
through the doors is a restaura-
teur's joy.
ERRATA, TYPO, Etc. Dept.
... Star Deli as itemed in a recent
column, is west of Telegraph, not
east.
MANY WERE probably there
that evening ... but perhaps didn't
know cute Lorraine Denenberg
or handsome Marty Blanck.
It was 51 years ago when Lor-
raine came into the London Chop
House with the late Willie
Ziskind ... Marty was alone.
They knew each other, having
originally met at the house wed-
ding of Frances and Leonard
Fink, where both had gone alone
... So it wasn't as if Lorraine and
Marty were strangers ... In fact,
she dated both Marty and Willie.
From the London Chop House,
the three went to Boesky's Deli-
catessen on 12th and Hazelwood
... Willie got a bit inebriated and
someone else drove him home ...
Marty took Lorraine home.
About a year later, June 29, 50
years ago, they were married at
the former Hotel Statler on
Washington Boulevard in Detroit.

Some 130 attended the recent
Skyline Club black-tie golden an-
niversary party of Lorraine and
Marty Blanck, whose dream-like
love story has been a continuous
inspiration of adoration.
Our waitress, Erika Furey,
was an excellent fill-in for the
evening, charming, efficient and
the prettiest of smiles ... She
works days, Monday, Wednesday
and Friday, plus some weekends,
at Sneakers in the Franklin Rac-
quet Club on Northwestern High-
way.
At our table, benefiting from
the sweetness and graciousness
of Erika, were Sylvia and Lewis
Miller, Shirley and Harold Podol-
sky, T illian Morse and Sylvia and
Harry Solomon.
Dinner of filet and salmon fol-
lowed hors d'oeuvres, with lis-
tening and dancing music by
Simone Vitale ... His lead singer,
Royce Javan, the same songster
from Mercer Ellington's group,
again thrilled folks with his
melodic renditions, especially
"Don't Get Around Much Any-
more," written and made popu-
lar by Mercer's father, Duke
Ellington.
Three gals who knew Lorraine
before she married Marty and
were her classmates at Central
High in the early '40s, also at-
tended ... Ruth (Hoffman) Tis-
chler, Eleanor (Fink) Park and
Elaine (Block) Plotkin.
Estelle Cole, winner of this col-
umn's first Beauty-Personality
Contest in the '40s as Estelle
Wein, celebrated her birthday by
doing a mean dance to Simone's
"Hustle" music ... So much that
the silk lining of Estelle's smart
suit stuck to her skin ... Other
terpsi-ites like Seymour and Do-
lores Brode, Nat and Betty Ko-
rash, Bill and Evelyn Wolf, Marty
and Lorraine, etc., enjoyed the
rhythmic beats of Simone and his
musical gang.
The 50th anniversary party
given for Lorraine and Marty
Blanck by their children ... Stu-
art, Stanford (Roz) and Fred ...
was just another gesture of "We
love you very much, Mom and
Dad."
EIGHTH ANNUAL South-
field Gold Cup Polo Competition
has two dates but will only be
held on one of them ... Official day
is July 20, 2 p.m., at Duns Scotus,
Nine Mile and Evergreen ... The
other date, July 21, is just in case
it rains.
Localite Harold Kalt plays for
and sponsors the Palm Beach
team which goes against the
Southfield squad that will in-
clude Alan Friedman from Itha-
ca, N.Y., and Jerry Spitler from
Brighton.
CABARET and Jazz are late-
night regulars now at the Ritz-
Carlton, Dearborn, 9 p.m. to 1:30
a.m. in the Grill ... Fridays have
the Michelle Goulet Duo, and Sat-
urdays are jazz stylist Sandra
Bomar. El

side of Greektown...featuring wonderful Greek Favorites.
