Rockwell Wants
More Engineers

Jerusalem (JPFS) — Rockwell,
the giant California-based high-
tech conglomerate, announced
plans to expand its semiconduc-
tor systems division, the com-
pany's fastest-growing segment,
by establishing a design center
in Herzliya.
Armando Geday, general
manager of the division, said
Rockwell chose Israel because of
the "unique capabilities" of its
engineers and plans to hire more
than 30 over the next year.
Zev Holtzman, chairman and
CEO of Giza, the Israeli affiliate
of Alex Brown & Sons, said Rock-
well's decision reflects the bene-
fits Israel offers to high-tech
companies, especially at a time
when they're feeling the pinch.
Rockwell also researches,
manufactures and develops prod-
ucts for the automation, avion-
ics, aerospace, defense electronics
and automotive industries. It en-
joys annual worldwide saleS of
$13 billion.
