BROWNFAIN, 76, of Bloomfield Hills, died June 24. Dr. Brownfain, a retired psychologist, attended Temple University, served in the U.S. Army during World War II and then earned his doctorate in clinical psychology at the Uni- versity of Michigan in 1950. Dr. Brownfain was the chief of the psychology service of the VA Hospital in Allen Park and then a professor of psychology at the University of Michigan in Dearborn until his retire- ment in 1990. He was also a consulting psychologist in pri- vate practice. He held offices in several state and national orga- nizations. Devoted to the arts, he was an amateur pianist and played chamber music at the Inter- lochen summer program. Dr. Brownfain was the beloved father of the late Ben- jamin Brownfain. He is sur- vived by his wife, Florence; daughter, Ellen of San Francis- co; a brother, three sisters, all of Philadelphia.
